Quality Care for our Local Community

Relieving Pain, Restoring Motion.

This is the philosophy of the Joint Replacement Program at FWMC. Our community has an increasing number of patients experiencing debilitating pain in their hips, knees, and other joints. We developed a specialized orthopedic program that focuses on joint replacement with a personal touch.

Fort Washington Medical Center’s Joint Replacement Program has a family friendly multidisciplinary team approach to the evaluation and treatment of hips, knees, and other joints. This means that our team will be with you every step of the way to ensure your surgery and recovery are a complete success.

Our experienced team includes board certified surgeons, board certified anesthesiologists, nurses, physical therapists, case managers, and most importantly, our patients. The team combines patient education, pathways to motion, multimodal pain management and postoperative rehabilitation to ensure each patient achieves desired outcomes.

Surgery Preparation

Excellence is the cornerstone of the Joint Replacement Program at FWMC. Patient and family member education is the driver to providing excellent results. Each patient and a family member will be asked to attend an education class on joint replacement, which will explain what to expect before, during, and after surgery. The class will be held on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Fort Washington Medical Center.

The class includes education on:

  • Pre-op Exercises
  • Pain Management
  • Rehabilitation
  • Precautions & Limitations Post-Surgery
  • What Is Needed Upon Discharge

All patients will receive a booklet summarizing the information in the class.
