Tuesday July 30, 2019
Fort Washington, Md. – Today, Healthgrades announced that Fort Washington Medical Center has earned the 2019 five-star quality rating for safely performing hysterectomies. Healthgrades is the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals in the nation. Five-star is the highest rating and differentiates hospitals whose actual surgical performance is significantly better than expected. This is the sixth Healthgrades designation the Medical Center has received in the last two years.
Following rigorous methodology, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcomes data provided by 15 (all-payer) participating states for 2015 through 2017. They looked at data surrounding mortality and complications associated with labor and delivery and gynecologic surgeries. The hospital received five-star commendation for having little to no complications after performing hysterectomies.
Last year, Fort Washington Medical Center received the Healthgrades 2018 Patient Safety Excellence Award, as well as five-star commendations for cardiac and orthopedic treatment, and gallbladder and appendix surgeries.
