The Infection Preventionist works with general supervision to design and implement the hospital wide infection prevention program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: policy/procedure development, management of critical data, epidemiological analysis, internal/external reporting of data, facilitation of the Infection Prevention Committee (as indicated), product evaluation, team member education, monitoring for environmental and practice compliance. Provides infection prevention oversight to the Rehabilitation service line: including two separately licensed hospitals with dual TJC and CARF accreditation in the amputation, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke specialty programs; and, five outpatient TJC accredited locations.


Status: Full Time
Education: BSN preferred (extensive experience in Infection control may substituted for BSN.) MSN preferred. Non-nursing experience with Infection Prevention will be considered with CIC Certification.
Experience: Minimum of five years clinical experience in an acute care setting. Minimum of two years direct experience in hospital laboratory, nursing, public health, or epidemiology required; Infection Control experience highly desirable.
Licenseure: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Microbiology, or Medical Technology, Master's degree preferred. • Active nursing license in the State of Maryland • Previous experience in infection control and knowledge of OSHA, TJC, CDC, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines related to infection control • More than 5 years of direct infection control experience preferred • Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
