Join Our Team to Stop Diabetes!

Fort Washington Medical Center is joining in the annual American Diabetes Association’s “Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes,” which will be held at the National Harbor on Saturday, October 18. Come join more than 2,000 individuals, companies, organizations and families united to raise money for a cure!

Activities will include a kick-off HealthFest, music, performances, and inspiring stories of those who live with diabetes every day. After an invigorating warm-up, participants will take a 3.1 mile trail along the National Harbor waterfront with families, friends, and company teams.

Want to walk with the FWMC team or make a donation? Visit or call FWMC Chairperson Perique Wimes at 301-203-2202.

The money raised supports critical diabetes research, information and advocacy.

Hear it from Our Patients

Jody Beard has suffered from knee pain for many years. Not anymore, thanks to knee replacement surgery through the Fort Washington Medical Center Joint Replacement Program.
This surgery has changed my life. I no longer lay on shopping carts for support or agonize when walking on concrete. After two knee replacements, now I am all over the place. I’m walking around the school where I work without pain. My granddaughter says I don’t walk like a penguin anymore. I have my surgeon and the FWMC staff to thank for that!
