Fort Washington Medical Center will be having a Blood Drive on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at 11711 Livingston Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744. 

Fort Washington Medical Center will host “Spring 2013 Managing Diabetes Series", a three-part series on diabetes management focusing on stress management, proper nutrition, lifestyle changes and medicine control.

These free series, facilitated by a diabetes educator and nutritionist, will take place from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m.on Monday, April 8 and Thursday, April 25, 2013 with a follow-up session on Monday, May 20, 2013. Fort Washington Medical Center (FWMC) has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in sonography and mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific practice guidelines and technical standards developed by ACR. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess patient care, treatment and safety, personnel qualifications, adequate facility equipment, and quality control procedures.

Fort Washington Medical Center (FWMC) staff recently presented Mary Jo Freeman, RN, with the DAISY Award for excellence in nursing.

Freeman, a nurse in the Emergency Department, was nominated by a patient’s family member for exemplary service. The family member summed up her impression of Nurse Freeman when she stated,”Nurse Freeman’s kind professional manner in administering to my son was commendable. Her expertise and mother wit was also well accepted.”

Fort Washington Medical Center Recognized for Zero CLABSI and Safe Medication Administration Honors in 2011

Fort Washington Medical Center was recognized in 2011 for having zero Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI). The hospital received the award through its involvement in the Maryland Patient Safety Center/Delmarva Collaborative for reducing CLABSI infections.
