Fort Washington Medical Center Earns ACR Accreditation in Digital Mammography and Ultrasound

10-15-2015

Fort Washington Medical Center has recently been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound and digital mammography by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety. The ACR awarded accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific practice guidelines and technical standards developed by ACR. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess patient care, treatment and safety, personnel qualifications, adequate facility equipment, and quality control procedures.

“We want both patient and families to know that the care they receive at Fort Washington Medical Center meets the highest levels of imaging quality and safety,” said Chair of Radiology Vimla Bhooshan, MD. “These accreditations provide a validation to the excellent quality care provided by our radiology staff.”

The ACR is a national organization with more than 35,000 accredited facilities in 10 imaging modalities and 28 years of accreditation experience. The organization also serves professionals such as: diagnostics/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging, radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

Hear it from Our Patients

Jody Beard has suffered from knee pain for many years. Not anymore, thanks to knee replacement surgery through the Fort Washington Medical Center Joint Replacement Program.
This surgery has changed my life. I no longer lay on shopping carts for support or agonize when walking on concrete. After two knee replacements, now I am all over the place. I’m walking around the school where I work without pain. My granddaughter says I don’t walk like a penguin anymore. I have my surgeon and the FWMC staff to thank for that!
