Fort Washington Medical Center (FWMC) has partnered with MDICS - Physicians
Inpatient Care Specialists to manage its hospitalist program. MDICS, Maryland’s
largest private hospitalist group, partners with health care systems,
hospitals and post-acute centers to provide high-quality, cost-effective
integrated medical solutions and services.
As part of the program, the MDICS physicians and physician assistants provide
comprehensive quality inpatient medical care to Fort Washington Medical
Center patients when hospitalized 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The hospitalists
also manage care coordination and are involved in all aspects of a patient’s
medical care from admission to discharge.
“In this ever-changing healthcare climate, it is vital that we continue
to have a great inpatient care team to meet the high quality standards
of a superior healthcare system,” said FWMC Chief Medical Officer
Victor Waters, M.D. “This partnership will enable us to maintain
that level of care with the 45,000 patients we see each year in our emergency
room,” he added.
In addition to FWMC, MDICS provide customized programs and services to
14 Maryland hospitals and has been implementing quality initiatives to
improve the patient care experience, decrease hospital costs, reduce readmissions
and length of stay, and improve documentation and coding to lower hospital
acquired conditions.
